People, Process, Product the three P's of Business.
Through my years building my business I have learned a lot. In the beginning I had a little experience in the industry working mostly as an underling. When I was laid off a few years ago and before I started Timothy Ink, Hulu was a new thing and I binged watched Kitchen Nightmares with Gordon Ramsey. After a few episodes you could see a very simple pattern emerged he came in and did one thing every time "FIX THE FOOD." It doesn't matter what kind of food you are selling in a restaurant, if the food is bad, and it doesn't matter if it's a burger or a T-bone and it almost doesn't matter what price it is listed at, if it's no good, no one will come there to eat it, and ultimately the business will die. So when I started Timothy Ink in 2009, and I was just starting out I made sure that if all else fails the prints were good, and that served me well for years. Now that my business is more mature and the jobs get bigger and more complex I find myself seeing that two other things play a key role in making my life easier at the shop, People and Process. It is key that the people that you hire are sharp and have the same goal as you do in mind, essentially (IT'S GOOD PRINTING). Lastly in order for your people to be able to there job effectively I have had to create a process that allows them to do there job effectively. This is a long and somewhat difficult process for you as a business owner to settle on but when all gears are clicking together you finally have your business.
